Querencia Lodge is set in the middle of Paradise Valley and the beauty of southwest Montana. The scenery is stunning and close, the mountain tops of the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness almost 45 degrees from the valley floor.
Yellowstone National Park is the crown jewel of our national park system and our most popular attraction. www.yellowstonepark.com
This has been an exceptional year for viewing wildlife in the Park, with our guests reporting seeing wolves, grizzly bears with cubs, black bears with cubs, hundreds of elk bison, deer, and antelope. https://yellowstoneswildworld.com
Yellowstone Park is also an exceptional fishery. Think about planning a walk and wade fishing trip in Yellowstone Park, a memory of a lifetime, and we can assist you. www.yellowstoneriveroutfitters.com
Querencia Lodge offers scenic drift boat floats on the Yellowstone River. This is a reasonably-priced alternative to a guided fishing trip for up to four adults that gets you out on the river. Typically a two to three-hour float in the morning with coffee and pastries or the evening with wine and cheese. Ask Joe for more details.
There are world-class hikes nearby. Our favorites are relatively short to cascading waterfalls. The most popular are hikes to Pine Creek Falls, Passage Creek Falls, and Emigrant Creek near Old Chico. Thompson Lake is full of fish and is accessible by a relatively flat, well-marked trail. Hikes to Elbow Lake and Pine Creek Lake are more arduous but may be accomplished, out and back, in a day. Querencia has complimentary bear spray! Make sure to take a rain jacket, too.
Grab a bag of carrots at the Emigrant Store and take the kids (of all ages) to feed the horses at the Chico Corral. We recommend the safe and scenic horseback ride at Bear Paw Outfitters https://www.bearpawoutfittersmt.com and Chico Hotsprings, https://rockinhk.com. Reservations are recommended.
Querencia Lodge is your passport to all of these exciting opportunities. We can help you.
Querencia Lodge is situated 17 miles south of Livingston, MT, on Highway 89 at the confluence of Mill Creek and the Yellowstone River, just 45 miles from the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and only 36 miles from Yellowstone National Park.
River floats, hiking, and outdoor adventures abound in the unmatched natural splendor of Yellowstone country.
Nearby Livingston has numerous fine restaurants, and the Yellowstone Valley Grill is only a mile away, slightly farther by drift boat. Chico Hot Springs and Sage Lodge are both five miles away.
Yellowstone National Park is always a favorite with Querencia Lodge guests. The north entrance at Gardiner is 40 minutes away on one of the most beautiful drives in the world.
The Yellowstone River begins miles southeast of Yellowstone Lake in our nation’s first National Park. Hikers call it the “thoroughfare trail,” which begins at Fishing Bridge with a long hike of nearly 30 miles south down the east side of the lake and upriver to the headwaters of the Yellowstone River.
Flowing steadily northward out of the lake, the river winds its way through geothermal features and narrow canyons, finally thundering over the Yellowstone Falls and on to its confluence with the Lamar River and Gardner River and then through Paradise Valley to Querencia Lodge.
It was on this river that legendary fly-fishers worked their magic with a rod, reel, and fly to find and fool wary trout that proved not quite smart enough to outwit these crafty, patient anglers. It is still the most admired and sought-after fly-fishing water in the world because of the large and wary rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout that inhabit its waters and the history that laps at its banks.
Querencia Lodge specializes in helping you, and your party enjoys the ultimate fishing adventure on the mighty Yellowstone River. Our professional staff will make the most of your time on the water. Be sure to check out Brogan Ballard of Yellowstone River Outfitters, a professional fishing guide who heads fishing trips in Yellowstone National Park and throughout Montana.
In addition to the Yellowstone River (right outside our door), there are many great fly-fishing destinations in the area that will be sure to challenge and reward you no matter what type of water you prefer.
